The Condo Contest (Canton, MA)

By Anthony Longo 16 07 2008

Win a 2 Bedroom Condo or Lots of Other Great Prizes!

All it takes is a dash of creativity and $50 to enter!

A developer who is trying to sell 14 condominiums in Canton is giving one away through a $50-per-entry contest, being promoted online by a bikini-clad model, according to the Boston Herald.

John Quinn said his firm created the contest to market its Canton Park complex in a fun way. In a YouTube video posted on TheCondoContest.com, model Giselle Sterling explains how people can win the $235,000 unit. The developer said the slumping housing market has left more than a dozen of the 74 apartments converted into condos two years ago unsold.

The contest calls for people to submit a written essay or YouTube video on one of four topics: Why you are Boston’s biggest sports fan, your most embarrassing moment, what your super power would be if you had one, or your or your pet’s unique talents.

Entries will be accepted until Sept. 30, the newspaper reported.

The Future of Traditional Real Estate

By Anthony Longo 27 04 2008

We all toss around the phrase “Traditional Real Estate” like it actually means something.  Well what does it mean?  Many point fingers in calling “Traditionalist” as the common…the ‘whats been going on the past 50 years.’  Well…I havent been around long enough to really put a definition together for what Traditional Real Estate Brokerage was or even is today.

However, I sure can tell you that what is “Traditional” today … will not be “Traditional” tomorrow.  The Boston Globe reports today a great article on the Gen-Xer and how ‘we’ are effecting this real estate brokerage and services vertical.

Selfishly I have to agree with this article…after a lot of research and a little bit of risk sticking our neck out into the online real estate brokerage world…we now have a file cabinet full of proof and very happy live clients who preach our services everyday.

The Globe article reports…

Brokers taking on a younger look

An aging industry scrambles to draw Generation X agents who speak the tech-savvy language of today’s home buyers

Instead of following her Generation Xer instincts, Johnson hewed to the practiced routine of seasoned brokers by chauffeuring buyers to and from properties and acting as a liaison for sellers.

It didn’t generate a single sale among today’s younger, more tech-savvy home buyers.

“People, especially my peers, aren’t looking for a ride to the property or a go-between; they want to IM me to find out how big the basement is,” said Johnson, 33, who works for Coldwell Banker in Haverhill. “They often have more information on the properties than most realtors. They don’t want a new friend; they want answers fast and will make decisions quickly when you provide them. I know this because I’m the same way.”

Young brokers such as Johnson are in great need. The real estate industry is getting older - the median age of brokers is 52 - while customers are young - the median age of first-time buyers in Massachusetts is 32. Traditional approaches don’t work on this younger set, who prefer to do most of the legwork themselves and appreciate a more laissez-faire relationship with their brokers.  Continued…

Banner Love

By Anthony Longo 24 04 2008

boston banner ad sales

Back by popular demand CondoDomain Boston is offering (limited) banner advertisements. Actually we are only allowing 1 advertisement space and it is located on the bottom of the home page. The ad space will allow up to 3 advertisers to rotate in this position.

As you know we have moved into the real estate brokerage arena and our business model is no longer ad-based, however, by demand from our close clients we are have decided to try it out. After all we are a web-based company still and we do have a little room to allow for some of our clients to get some exposure.

The ad space will allow up to 3 advertisers to rotate in this position. Two of the slots have already been filled by longtime client Tillingers Concierge who is a luxury concierge service and Peabody Crossing who is advertising an upcoming auction for the remaining units available at Peabody Crossing.

What is allowed in our banner advertisement slot:

Any reasonable product or service that cater to our urban clientele: Zip Car, Furniture Companies, Concierge Services, Consumer Services, Real Estate Related Services, etc.

What is NOT allowed in our banner advertisement slot: Anything that would not appeal to our audience or is considered unprofessional. Also, we will not allow any competing companies or like services that may interfere with our services or offerings by any of the local developers or real estate or MLS regulations.

Want to advertise? We have 1 spot left!!!

Boston Condo Ad #1

Boston Condo Ad 1

Boston Condo Ad #1

We ran our very first advertisement this weekend in a local Boston Real Estate newspaper called Boston Homes (above). Being tech-guys its something we were not too excited about, but we got a little love from our friend JF @ Sellsius and of course our favorite Barbara Corcoran story and thought it would be a nice compliment to our services.

So what makes a good “print” real estate ad? Simple and clean? Black and white? Color? Catchy? Text or images? Phone numbers or web sites? What is the deal? Advertising in a newspaper is low-resolution, hard to track and easy to miss.
Well, we will be running a new advertisement for our company - Boston CondoDomain, every other week for the next 13 weeks. Any ideas, feedback will be much appreciated!!! You can follow all of these ad’s & posts under the Advertising category.

We plan on starting off conservative…but stay tuned as we got some pretty Risk-ayyyy ad’s coming up soon too!

Don’t be afraid to tell us if our ad’s suck or if they are awesome! We very much look forward to your comments.

PS - The ad above is actually the back of our business cards.
